Working together, students are welcomed and supported in bringing their collective knowledge and strengths to bear as they explore and grapple with new concepts and challenging problems, while instructors provide structure by guiding students through this discovery-based learning process.

The rich problem scenarios and just-in-time supports in our curricula explore real-world issues using authentic, culturally relevant contexts that relate to students’ programs of studies, career aspirations, and their everyday interests and lives.

Thoughtfully designed and productively challenging, our curricula align with standard learning outcomes and incorporate language and literacy supports to mitigate comprehension as a barrier to math learning.

Research shows that supporting the social, cultural, and emotional aspects of learning has a transformational effect on student engagement and directly impacts their success.

Pathways solutions include key support routines and activities collectively known as CIRCL (Cultivating Inclusive, Resilient Communities of Learning). Building upon the original Productive Persistence model, CIRCL offers an updated framework to address the non-cognitive aspects of learning based on the latest research and insights from psychology and education experts as well as experienced educators. Intentionally designed and available at OER, the package offers instructors flexible supports to create a learning space where students can bring their authentic selves, engage in deep, relevant math learning, and ultimately feel empowered to curiously engage in mathematics exploration. Instructors are most effective when they have access to real time data on student progress and performance, and the tools to effectively act on this information.

Through built-in dashboards, the Pathways provides a range of feedback to instructors at multiple timepoints about students’ conceptual knowledge, beliefs and feelings related to several social emotional factors, and their engagement and performance throughout the course. Plus, instructors benefit from relevant resources to guide instruction and interventions in response to these analytics.
